Melbourne is a cosmopolitan city and teems with trendy bars and clubs. If late night DJs are not to your fancy then there is always live music, and Melbourne is not short of that. Melbourne is pleased to be the location for Australia's largest concentration of live music venues – visitors can expect to select from anything from grunge rock to jazz and all shades of music in between. It goes without saying that the latest movies are available on state of the art screens and there's enough cabaret and comedy clubs to keep almost every fan occupied. Melbourne is developing a trendy south bank area where a wealth of entertainment is available in a compact area. The Crown Entertainment Complex on Whiteman Street for example is available and houses Australia's largest casino and has over 40 bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from. In addition, there are cinemas, games arcades, discos and designer shops. The South Bank is also the location for the Victorian Arts Centre with its distinctive Eiffel-like tower. The city should be seen as a hub to explore the surrounding areas and attractions– such as theme parks, wildlife and beaches– most of which are within a few hours drive. |
